Suncheon City Offers Free City Bus Rides for Those Aged 75 and Over

Up to 20 Uses per Month for Transportation Welfare Card
Implementation Starts Next October... Creation of Poster Cities

Suncheon City, South Jeolla Province (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced on the 26th that it will implement a free city bus program for citizens aged 75 and older starting from October 2025, as part of its efforts to create a city friendly to public transportation, bicycles, and pedestrians.


The city is promoting the free city bus program for seniors to encourage the use of public transportation and enhance transportation welfare.

There are approximately 22,800 citizens aged 75 or older registered as residents in the city, and they will be able to use city buses for free up to 20 times per month when using a dedicated transportation welfare card.


After completing preparations such as establishing an electronic management system for the transportation welfare card and enacting related ordinances in the first half of 2025, the city plans to issue transportation welfare cards at administrative welfare centers in each town, township, and neighborhood, and implement the free city bus program for those aged 75 and older starting in October.


Meanwhile, Suncheon City is currently operating the K-Pass program, which offers discounted public transportation fares for citizens aged 19 and older. Card companies issue K-Pass transportation cards, and users receive a 20% discount for the general public, 30% for young people aged 19 to 34, and 53% for low-income individuals when using city buses 15 times or more per month.
