Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, successfully held the ‘2024 Night of Farmers’ event on the 23rd at the Juwangsan Oncheon Tourist Hotel banquet hall, hosted by the Cheongsong Agricultural Organizations Council.
The Cheongsong Agricultural Organizations Council is a coalition consisting of nine groups: the Korea Successor Farmers Management Association Cheongsong-gun Branch, Korea Women Farmers Cheongsong-gun Branch, National Peasants Federation Cheongsong-gun Branch, Cheongsong Apple Association, Korea Rice Farmers Cheongsong-gun Branch, National Hanwoo Association Cheongsong-gun Branch, Korea Rural Leaders Cheongsong-gun Branch, Korea Life Improvement Cheongsong-gun Branch, and Cheongsong-gun 4-H Federation.
This event was organized to reflect on the year 2024, encourage the hard work of farmers, and prepare for the upcoming new year.
The event was graced by the presence of County Governor Yoon Kyung-hee, County Council Chairman Shim Sang-hyu, Gyeongbuk Provincial Council Agriculture and Fisheries Committee Chairperson Shin Hyo-kwang, other county council members, and over 150 members of agricultural organizations.
The program began with an opening address by Chairman Shim Cheon-taek, followed by a presentation of a plaque of appreciation to Governor Yoon Kyung-hee for her contributions to the innovation of the apple industry and the improvement of farmers’ incomes. Additionally, videos showcasing the 2024 activities of each agricultural organization were screened, and various programs such as a tofu cutting ceremony praying for a bountiful 2025 harvest were held, enhancing the atmosphere.
Chairman Shim Cheon-taek expressed, “I hope this gathering today brings comfort and strength to our farmers who have worked hard throughout the year,” and added, “The preemptive transition to an apple distribution structure with stems, implemented by Cheongsong-gun, has greatly contributed to leading the innovation of South Korea’s apple industry.”
Governor Yoon Kyung-hee said, “I deeply appreciate the dedication and hard work of the farmers who are responsible for our food supply,” and added, “I ask for the continued interest and cooperation of all farmers so that our county can play a leading role in advancing agriculture beyond Gyeongbuk Province to the development of agriculture in South Korea.”
