Mayor Baek Young-hyun: "We Will Continue to Implement Disability Welfare Policies That Citizens Can Feel"
Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 26th that starting from January 2025, it will implement a postal individual delivery service that allows recipients to receive their Disability Registration Card (Welfare Card) by registered mail directly.
Previously, to receive the Disability Registration Card, individuals had to visit the local administrative welfare center twice. During this process, there were cases of inconvenience caused by loss or delays in issuance.
To improve this, Pocheon City signed an agreement with the Chungcheong Regional Post Office (the regional post office jurisdiction where the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation is located) and introduced the postal individual delivery service. This service operates by having the post office deliver the Disability Registration Card, produced by the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, directly to the disabled person.
Through this, the issuance period is shortened by more than five days, and the delivery process can be checked in real-time via the Internet Post Office, preventing loss incidents.
The delivery fee is borne by Pocheon City, and anyone applying for a new or reissued Disability Registration Card with an address in Pocheon City can use the service.
Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon City said, “This postal individual delivery service for Disability Registration Cards is expected to realize swift and accurate administration while contributing to the convenience of disabled persons,” and added, “We will continue to promote disability welfare policies that citizens can feel and benefit from.”
