Samjeong KPMG Successfully Hosts '2024 KPMG Global Cyber Day' Event

Samjong KPMG announced on the 26th that it successfully completed the ‘2024 KPMG Global Cyber Day’ education program, which provides personal information protection education and career mentoring on cyber security consultants to middle school students in the Seoul metropolitan area.


‘KPMG Global Cyber Day’ has been held annually since 2017 to raise awareness of the importance of cyber security among students worldwide. This year, a total of 66 countries, including Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Spain, participated.


Since the 5th, Samjong KPMG has educated a total of about 600 students from Bongyeong Girls’ Middle School, Hongik University College of Education Affiliated Middle School, Garak Middle School in Seoul, and Seongil Middle School and Dasan Hangang Middle School in Gyeonggi Province on cyber information protection under the theme of ‘Personal Information Protection in the Online Environment.’

Samjong KPMG cyber security experts provided guidance on laws responding to cybercrime and cyber violence, and to raise awareness of the dangers of indiscriminate image downloads in the online environment, they conducted a hands-on session where students directly demonstrated ‘Steganography.’ In the lecture on safe internet use and personal information protection, actual security threat cases related to ID and password usage were explained, emphasizing the need to prevent information leakage through secondary authentication methods such as fingerprint, OTP, and email verification.


Through the recent high-profile case of OpenAI personal information leakage, they spread awareness about the indiscriminate use of artificial intelligence (AI) and emphasized information protection response methods that individuals can use to protect themselves.


Go Young-dae, Cyber Security Leader (Executive Director) at Samjong KPMG, said, “Students are exposed to information leakage and cyber violence online, including on SNS,” adding, “Next year, we plan to conduct cyber security education in underserved areas that are information protection blind spots to contribute to creating a safe and trustworthy digital world.”
