Professor Kim Myung-hee of the Department of Food Engineering at Yeungnam University (President Choi Oe-chul) was reported on the 26th to have received the 'Agricultural Technology Award (Collaboration Category)' at the '2024 Agricultural Science and Technology Achievement Sharing Conference' hosted by the Rural Development Administration.
This award is given to individuals who have achieved outstanding results in various research fields this year, targeting public officials, academia, and industry. Professor Kim was honored with the award as her case study, "Let's Make Traditional Jang Smartly!", was selected as an excellent achievement in the Agricultural Technology Award category.
This research, which solved the problem of abnormal fermentation caused by the decline in flavor and reduction in production yield of jang products due to rising average temperatures and increased summer days, is a collaborative research achievement between the Rural Development Administration, local rural institutions, and universities.
Additionally, by introducing a smart temperature control model for optimal quality maintenance, the study achieved cost reduction in self-management of hazardous biogenic amines, and it is expected to contribute to food safety through the application of fermentation-distribution management technology.
Professor Kim Myung-hee has been leading research on the development of hazardous substance reduction and analysis technologies based on bio- and nano-materials, and has previously been recognized for her contributions with the Science and Technology Medal of Honor, the Dodak Medal.
