Concerns Over Community Guide Violations

Controversy has arisen as so-called "date transaction" items have been repeatedly posted on the secondhand trading platform 'Danggeun Market.' There are concerns that the platform could be exploited as a channel for illegal activities.

On the 25th, screenshots of posts titled "date transactions" recently uploaded on Danggeun Market have been spreading across various online communities. One post titled "1 Night 2 Days Date Ticket" explains, "I act as a girlfriend concept role in various situations such as a 1 night 2 days trip, golf (screen), and alumni meetings."

This is essentially a product structured to provide a 'girlfriend' role for a certain period at various locations in exchange for a fee. The price for the 1 night 2 days date ticket is set at 25,000 won. At the top of the post, a woman wearing provocative clothing is shown in a photo with only her face covered.

Some have pointed out that the post violates Danggeun's service terms of use. Currently, Danggeun specifies seven precautions for platform use, among which number 4 states, "Acts of sending or presenting information that violates public order and morals or laws, such as obscene information or copyright-infringing information." Violations may result in sanctions on service use.

Additionally, in the community guidelines announced in November 2020, Danggeun stipulates that users who request or promote "immoral meetings," "massage," or engage in prostitution or equivalent illegal or immoral acts will be permanently expelled and prohibited from rejoining.

However, despite platform monitoring and sanctions, such "immoral posts" are occasionally detected. In 2021, a post proposing prostitution was uploaded on a sales page classified as secondhand goods, causing controversy, and there was also an incident where a teenage minor posted a message implying "selling disabled people," sparking further debate.
