Active as Co-Chairman of Private Joint Committee
Plans to Support Globalization of Gugak
Yoon Young-dal, Chairman of Crown Haitai Confectionery, has been appointed as the Co-Chairman of the 2025 Yeongdong World Gugak Expo Organizing Committee.
According to Crown Haitai Confectionery on the 26th, the Yeongdong World Gugak Expo Organizing Committee appointed Chairman Yoon as the private sector co-chairman to successfully promote the world’s first Gugak Expo, which will be held in Yeongdong-gun, Chungbuk Province, next September. He will serve alongside Kim Young-hwan, Governor of Chungbuk Province. He is expected to play a role in raising the global awareness of the Gugak Expo as well as participate broadly in performance programs, event planning, and operations.
The 2025 Yeongdong World Gugak Expo will be held from September 12 to October 11 next year under the theme “The Scent of Gugak, Coloring the World.” The event will feature traditional Gugak and traditional music performances from over 30 countries, exhibitions, and experiential programs. Approximately one million visitors are expected to attend during the event period.
Chairman Yoon’s appointment as co-chairman reflects his continuous support for the development and expansion of traditional Gugak. Notably, he was the first private company to establish a Gugak orchestra and has held the largest Gugak performances in Korea annually. Additionally, he has held weekly Youngjae Hanum meetings to discover Gugak prodigies and operated the Yangju Pungnyu Music Association with top-level Gugak masters, striving to preserve and develop the original form of traditional Gugak.
Currently, he also serves as the chairman of the Korea Mecenat Association, a cultural and artistic sponsorship organization that acts as a bridge between corporations and the arts, expected to lead many private companies to participate and contribute to the successful hosting of the Gugak Expo.
Chairman Yoon said, “I am pleased to participate in the Yeongdong World Gugak Expo, which can showcase the beauty of traditional music Gugak, a core of the Korean Wave, to the world.” He added, “Through the participation of many companies and the private sector, I will do my best to make this a prestigious event where the public and people around the world can enjoy the beauty of Gugak together.”
