Gyeonggi Province was selected as the best institution in the ‘2024 Local Government Digital Level Diagnosis’ evaluation conducted by the Korea Local Information Research & Development Institute.
The Korea Local Information Research & Development Institute is a specialized regional informatization organization under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, established to conduct surveys and research related to regional informatization, distribute and maintain joint utilization systems for local governments, and implement e-government.
The institute has been diagnosing and evaluating the digital levels of 17 metropolitan local governments since last year to understand the degree of digital transformation of local governments and to link informatization between central and local governments.
In this evaluation, Gyeonggi Province received a score of 82.6, higher than the overall average of 81.2, and was selected as ‘Best’. This is an increase of 8.6 points from the 73.4 points received in last year’s pilot diagnosis.
Particularly high scores were received in the categories of ‘Digital Platform Government Promotion Capability’ and ‘Degree of Promotion’.
Gyeonggi Province received perfect scores in 7 out of 8 detailed indicators across two areas: policies and regulations, informatization technology, organizational capabilities, task discovery and promotion for advancing the digital platform government. In addition, it recorded higher than average scores in public data management and digital civil service provision within the digital service delivery area.
Kim Gi-byeong, Director of AI at Gyeonggi Province, emphasized, "We will continue to discover and provide innovative digital services centered on residents, and based on this achievement, actively introduce AI into digital services for residents to strive for a better life for our citizens."
