Considering Improvements for Aging Sewage Facilities
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held a 'Sewerage Facility Improvement Plan Forum' at the Jinhae Marine Solar Tower.
The forum held on the 24th was attended by about 50 people, including external experts in sewerage, environment, and urban planning fields, as well as public officials related to sewerage facilities. It consisted of a first part with thematic presentations and a second part with discussions.
In the first part, presentations were made on ▲the current status of aging sewerage facilities ▲matters related to the Serious Accidents Punishment Act ▲what issues exist in the sewer pipelines of the Deokdong treatment area. In the second part, experts and participants freely discussed ▲facility improvement plans such as maintenance of aging sewer pipelines ▲efficient management methods for public sewage treatment facilities ▲safety measures in the sewerage sector to develop safe and pleasant improvement plans for aging sewerage facilities.
Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, “Sewerage is an important channel through which the water we use daily is safely treated and returned to the environment. It is a core infrastructure for the sustainable development of the city.” He added, “Through this forum, we will continuously develop to enhance the efficiency of sewerage management that is safe and satisfactory to citizens, protect the environment, and improve the quality of life for our citizens.”
