Another Reason for Ryugyeonggi Jungnang-gu Mayor's Bright Smile at Year-End?

At the end of the year, Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, smiled brightly.

Mayor Ryu has been busy working hard for the livelihood economy, but there is also some good news.

Several Seoul city officials from Jungnang-gu who worked with Mayor Ryu were appointed to key positions in this personnel reshuffle, bringing joy.

Seoul City conducted a personnel reshuffle on the 24th, promoting officials from grade 4 (Director) to grade 1.

In this reshuffle, Deputy Mayor Jeong Jin-woo, who served for two years, returned to Seoul City and was appointed as Director of the Lifelong Education Bureau, which made Mayor Ryu happy and congratulatory.

Deputy Mayor Jeong, a graduate of the 38th Administrative Examination, previously served as Director of the Seoul City Employment Division and Welfare Planning Officer, and assisted Mayor Ryu during the 8th local government term in Jungnang-gu. His humble and sincere attitude earned him respect as a public official among Jungnang-gu employees.

Deputy Mayor Jeong’s promotion to the key city position of Director of Lifelong Education is welcomed not only by himself but also greatly by Mayor Ryu.

Jeong’s successor as Deputy Mayor is Director Jeong Sang-taek, who returned from training at the University of Kentucky in the United States and was appointed. Director Jeong is a local government examination graduate who worked for a long time in Mapo-gu before joining Seoul City, holding positions such as Director of Small Business Support, Director of General Affairs, Welfare Planning Officer, Deputy Mayor of Mapo-gu, and Head of the Gwanghwamun Plaza Promotion Team, recognized as a senior public official with both character and capability.

Additionally, in this Seoul City senior executive reshuffle, Yeo Jang-kwon, Head of the Climate and Environment Headquarters who served as Deputy Mayor under Mayor Ryu, was promoted to grade 1 as Director of Transportation, fulfilling his long-held wish.

Also, Lee Soo-yeon, Director of the Garden City Bureau who successfully hosted the 2024 Seoul International Garden Expo and was applauded by Mayor Oh Se-hoon, and who served as Deputy Mayor of Jungnang, was reappointed contrary to some expectations that she might be transferred elsewhere.

Along with this, former Deputy Mayor Kim Tae-hee, Director of the Citizen Health Bureau who worked with Mayor Ryu, also retained his position.

Seeing the successful advancement of former Deputy Mayors from Jungnang-gu who are known for their excellent work must be a great joy for Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi of Jungnang-gu.

Graduating from Seoul National University’s Department of Political Science and passing the Administrative Examination, Ryu Gyeong-gi has held key positions such as Director of Seoul City Administration, Spokesperson, Chief of the Planning Office, and First Deputy Mayor of Administration, earning a reputation as a “once-in-a-century Deputy Mayor” for his capability and character. It seems he has received another gift at the end of the year.

Mayor Ryu took office as Mayor of Jungnang-gu in the 7th local government term and gained applause from local residents by solidifying the regional foundation through projects such as the “Sanctification of Mangwoo History and Culture Park,” “Reading 1,000 Books Before School,” “Hosting the Jungnang Rose Festival,” and “Weekly Street Cleaning with Residents.”

Especially in the 8th local election, held after the presidential election, he confirmed a solid local base by winning against his competitor by about 10,000 votes.

An official from Jungnang-gu said, “There are many good things happening, such as the promotion of executives who worked with Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi in this Seoul City senior personnel reshuffle, so the Mayor must be very pleased.”
