Prosecution Seeks 5-Year Prison Sentence for Yoo Young-jae on Charges of Forcible Molestation of Sunwoo Eun-sook's Older Sister

The prosecution requested a heavy sentence for broadcaster Yoo Young-jae (61), who was indicted for forcibly molesting actress Sunwoo Eun-sook's older sister.

On the 24th, the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, during the sentencing hearing held at the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Court Criminal Division 1 (Presiding Judge Heo Yong-gu), stated, "The defendant does not deny the crime in the victim's submitted recorded statement, but denies it during the trial process, showing a bad nature of the crime," and requested a five-year prison sentence.

The prosecution explained, "The victim consistently testified about the molestation, and there is no reason to give false testimony based on the evidence." The prosecution also requested the court to order participation in a sexual violence treatment program and impose employment restrictions.

In his final statement, Yoo Young-jae said, "Because of this incident, I lost what I had achieved over 34 years of broadcasting life, and my daily life has come to a halt," adding, "I have reflected on whether there are parts I need to repent for and mistakes I have made."

Yoo Young-jae, who was indicted without detention last October on charges of forcibly molesting Sunwoo Eun-sook's older sister five times between March and October 2023, repeatedly denied the charges during the defendant's questioning, stating he never forcibly molested her.

Meanwhile, Yoo Young-jae and Sunwoo Eun-sook married in 2022 but divorced in April of this year. The annulment lawsuit filed by Sunwoo Eun-sook is proceeding separately from this case. The verdict will be delivered on January 23 of next year.
