"Contributing to the Improvement of Residents' Quality of Life"

A gymnasium has been established in Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do, where residents can enjoy indoor sports activities for health promotion and leisure.
Hampyeong-gun announced on the 24th that it held a completion ceremony for the Wolya Indoor Gymnasium in the Wolya-ri area of Wolya-myeon.
Approximately 200 people attended the ceremony, including Lee Sangik, Mayor of Hampyeong-gun, Lee Namoh, Chairman of the Hampyeong County Council, Park Jonghee, President of the Hampyeong Sports Council, Mo Jeonghwan, Jeonnam Provincial Assembly member, representatives from related organizations in Wolya-myeon, heads of social organizations, and local residents.
The Wolya Indoor Gymnasium project, which was selected as a public offering project by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in November 2021 and then fully promoted, was constructed with a total budget of 4.83 billion KRW, including 1 billion KRW from the National Sports Promotion Fund and 1 billion KRW from provincial funds. It was built on the 8,484㎡ site of the former Wolya Health Center, with a building area of 988㎡.
The gymnasium is equipped with one volleyball court, four badminton courts, as well as supporting facilities such as offices, showers, and changing rooms.
Lee Sangik, Mayor of Hampyeong-gun, said, "With the completion of the Wolya Indoor Gymnasium, residents can now enjoy various indoor sports regardless of the weather or season," adding, "We expect it will greatly contribute to improving the quality of life for residents not only through sports but also by serving as a venue for various community events and cultural and artistic activities."
