Yonsei University agreed to the withdrawal of the lawsuit filed by examinees requesting the invalidation of the 2025 academic year early admission natural sciences essay exam. This has brought an end to the legal dispute between the university and the examinees over the fairness of the exam.

On the 24th, Yonsei University announced that it had submitted a consent form for the withdrawal of the lawsuit to the Seoul Western District Court. The university accepted the withdrawal request submitted by the examinees to the court on the 20th.
Earlier, suspicions arose that the essay exam questions, held in October at Yonsei University's Sinchon Campus in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, had been leaked in advance. It was reported that a proctor at one exam site mistakenly distributed the question papers early and then collected them, after which photos presumed to be of the question papers were circulated on online communities.
Subsequently, the examinees who took the essay exam filed a lawsuit on the 21st of the same month, claiming that the fairness of the exam was compromised due to the question leak, and requested the invalidation of the exam and a provisional injunction to suspend its effect. The court granted the provisional injunction requested by the examinees last month to suspend the effect of the essay exam, and when Yonsei University’s objection was rejected, the university immediately filed an appeal with the Seoul High Court. On the 3rd, the Seoul High Court accepted Yonsei University’s appeal and overturned the first-instance ruling.
With the previous court ruling suspending the follow-up procedures related to the essay exam no longer in effect, Yonsei University announced the successful candidates of the first exam and conducted the second exam on the 8th.
