"Fabrication led by Jang Kyung-tae following Kim Eo-jun"
"Democratic Party and leftists manipulate to mislead public opinion"
"Similar to Park's secret meeting theory during Sewol ferry 7 hours"
Seok Dong-hyun, a former Secretary General of the National Unification Advisory Council, claimed that the allegations regarding First Lady Kim Keon-hee's visit to a plastic surgery clinic are rumors.
On the 23rd, Seok posted on his social media account, "Democratic Party lawmaker Jang Kyung-tae raised a malicious suspicion that First Lady Kim Keon-hee stayed for three hours at the hospital of the presidential plastic surgery consultant on the 3rd, the day President Yoon announced the emergency martial law statement." He added, "Not long ago, Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee Chairperson Choi Min-hee summoned Kim Eo-jun, a producer of lies and rumors, to the committee without witness oath, which carries perjury responsibility," and said, "(Kim Eo-jun) fabricated the rumor of an assassination, and when it was not entertaining, he manufactured a second round of rumors by putting forward Jang Kyung-tae, who is at the same level as his imitator."
He continued, "Also, if you include the recent incident where a certain opposition figure talked about an assassination squad and disguised a military vehicle as an armored vehicle, I don't know how many rounds of rumors will follow." He further stated, "During the impeachment of former President Park Geun-hye, the Democratic Party and left-wing forces deliberately manipulated the public sentiment and opinion for their own purposes," adding, "It is a revival of the tactics that were later proven fake, such as the seven-hour secret meeting rumor during the Sewol ferry disaster involving President Park, and the Viagra rumor at the Blue House. Bad habits never go away." He then said, "Except for the 'Gaeddal' (a nickname for fervent Democratic Party supporters), our people are basically wise. Especially through the impeachment process of former President Park, they have sufficiently learned the opposition's fabrication tactics," and concluded, "Dark forces, do not be mistaken."
Earlier, on the 15th, Seok also claimed on social media that "President Yoon's actions cannot be considered treason." At that time, he said, "The authority to judge the state of emergency, which is a prerequisite for martial law, lies with the president according to legal principles and precedents. Although the declaration of martial law was undoubtedly shocking to the public, there are abundant reasons and legal principles why such an act cannot constitute treason under criminal law," adding, "On the contrary, it is common sense to see that the actual disruption of the national order stipulated as a requirement for treason and the responsibility for resulting government manipulation lie with opposition lawmakers." He also stated, "Although the impeachment trial was a regrettable measure like a drastic remedy, the martial law, which ended within two or three hours through constitutional procedures, is being hastily labeled as treason by the National Assembly," and said, "I will do my best to help with a sense of responsibility for supporting the creation of this administration. Entering as a defense attorney in investigations or courts is not the only way to help."
He also pointed out, "Eight years ago, former President Park Geun-hye was impeached and dismissed by the Constitutional Court not because it was legally justified. The Sewol ferry accident, rescue failure, later proven fake rumors such as secret meetings or Viagra at the Blue House, and trivial matters like scenes of paying for clothes deceived the public sentiment," and concluded, "Many believe that the anger of the people who were misled caused confusion among the judges at that time," adding, "This time, such a thing should not happen. The people must be awake so that the judges do not get confused or intimidated."
Meanwhile, it is known that Seok Dong-hyun is a classmate of President Yoon at Seoul National University College of Law and has maintained a close relationship for about 40 years.
