Announcement of Selection of 6 Department Projects to Promote 2050 Carbon Neutrality Practice Culture... Awards Ceremony on the 31st
The city of Guri, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Gyeong-hyeon) announced on the 24th that it will select six departments that achieved outstanding results in promoting the ‘2050 Carbon Neutrality Departmental Action Plans’ to spread a culture of carbon neutrality starting with public officials, and will award them at the year-end ceremony to be held on the 31st.
Earlier this year, Guri City identified and promoted 46 carbon neutrality action plans across all 43 departments to expand carbon-neutral lifestyle practices among public officials in response to the climate crisis.
Among these, nine action plans were selected through a document review based on relevance to carbon neutrality, carbon reduction amount, and creativity. The heads of the respective teams in each bureau participated as evaluators to select the final six plans.
The evaluation results are as follows: △Grand Prize - Architecture Department (operating quarterly recycling donation days), △Excellence Award - Hygiene and Safety Department (promoting reduction of single-use items in food hygiene businesses), Health Promotion Department (operating a certification challenge for carbon neutrality activities in daily life), △Encouragement Award - Health Policy Department (using tumblers), Sewage Department (each employee cultivating one tree), Municipal Library (learning green habits at the library).
The selected departments will receive the mayor’s commendation along with prize money of 500,000 KRW for the grand prize, 400,000 KRW for the excellence award, and 300,000 KRW for the encouragement award.
Mayor Baek Gyeong-hyeon of Guri City stated, “Carbon neutrality in the era of the climate crisis is an essential task for future generations,” and added, “I hope that all city employees will continue to take the lead next year and contribute to spreading the culture of carbon neutrality practice.”
