The direct inspection system for gaming machines, introduced by Jeju Special Self-Governing Province in 2021 to ensure transparency and reliability in casino operations, has been yielding positive results.

Jeju Province established a system to directly conduct inspections of gaming machines, such as electronic games, which were previously outsourced to external inspection agencies, by hiring specialized personnel and revising related ordinances.

This has fundamentally blocked the possibility of tampering or forgery of gaming machines, increased transparency in casino operations, and significantly enhanced the international competitiveness of Jeju casinos.

A total of 481 machines, including 334 electronic gaming machines and 147 electronic table game machines currently operated at eight casinos in the province, are subject to regular inspection.

From 2021 to the present, Jeju Province has completed inspections of 1,975 gaming machines over four years. Through this, approximately 220 million KRW in inspection fees have been secured as non-tax revenue, and it is estimated that casino operators have saved about 101 million KRW by reducing travel expenses and other costs that occurred during previous external inspections.

In particular, the direct inspection system has shortened the time required for inspections, thereby improving the operational efficiency of casinos.

Kim Heechan, Director of Tourism Exchange at Jeju Province, stated, "With the establishment of a direct management and supervision system for casinos, we are now able to provide a safe and reliable tourism environment for foreign tourists, which is expected to greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy," adding, "We will continue to make efforts to further strengthen the international competitiveness of the Jeju casino industry."
