On the 23rd, Lee Jeong-hyun posted on her social media account a message from Kia regarding the recruitment with the phrase "Rejected. Merry Christmas." Kia stated, "We appreciate your interest in Kia and your application for the 2024 engineer (production) new hire recruitment." They added, "Reviewing Lee Jeong-hyun's documents allowed us to reflect on Kia's direction and look back on the past preparations for joining the company, which was a valuable time." They continued, "Although we cannot proceed with Lee Jeong-hyun in this selection, we hope to meet again through other Kia job postings," and "We ask for your continued interest in Kia recruitment and wish Lee Jeong-hyun unlimited success." It appears that despite her main career as an actress, Lee Jeong-hyun applied for the Kia production position.

On the 5th, Kia announced the 2024 engineer (production) new hire recruitment through its talent recruitment website. The eligibility requires a high school diploma or higher, with preference given to those with experience or certifications related to electrical, mechanical, or automotive engineering. The selection process includes document screening, aptitude and physical tests, and interviews. Successful candidates will receive onboarding training and be assigned to plants in Gwangmyeong and Hwaseong in Gyeonggi Province, and Gwangju. They will be responsible for assembling automotive parts on the vehicle assembly line and performing necessary inspections and adjustments before assembly.

Earlier, in September, Kia labor and management reached a tentative agreement on wages and collective bargaining, agreeing to hire 500 new production workers by next year. This is an increase compared to the annual hiring of 100 to 300 workers since the 2021 labor agreement. Kia plans to stagger the hiring of these 500 workers through next year rather than recruiting all at once.

Kia production workers, along with Hyundai Motor Company, are known as "Kingsan-jik (king + production worker)" due to their average annual salary in the hundred million KRW range and job security until retirement. According to the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system, Kia's average annual salary per person last year was 127 million KRW. The retirement age for Kia production workers is 60 years old, and the reemployment period for retirees (contract workers) has been extended from a maximum of 1 year to 2 years. Additionally, Kia recorded its highest annual performance last year with sales of 99.8084 trillion KRW and operating profit of 11.6079 trillion KRW.

Meanwhile, Lee Jeong-hyun, born in 1990, graduated from Yongin University with a major in Judo. She began her acting career in 2014 with the play 'Gyeongsuk, Gyeongsuk's Father.' Since then, she has built her filmography by appearing in movies such as 'Transfer Student Kim Tank,' 'Shout to the World,' 'Chronicles of Superiority,' 'Steel Rain 2,' 'Hot Blood,' 'Neighbor,' 'The Pirates: Goblin Flag,' and 'Boyz,' as well as dramas including 'Sweet Home,' 'New Recruit,' 'Escape of Seven,' and 'Resurrection of Seven.' She notably gained public attention for her role as Corporal Tsuda in tvN's 'Mr. Sunshine.' Her next project is the TVING original 'Shark: The Storm,' scheduled for release in 2025.
