Gwangju City Council member Lee Gwisoon (Democratic Party of Korea, Gwangsan-gu 4) announced on the 23rd that a policy discussion forum titled "Reviewing the Asian Culture Hub City Project" will be held at 2 p.m. on the 26th at the Mahan Heritage Experience Center in Sinchang-dong, Gwangsan-gu, together with National Assembly member Min Hyungbae and the Asian Culture Hub City Support Forum (hereinafter referred to as the Support Forum).
The forum will begin with an opening address by Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Min Hyungbae (Gwangju Gwangsan-eul), followed by progress reports on current issues related to the Asian Culture Hub City Project and presentations and discussions on major projects in Gwangsan-gu. In particular, the forum will focus on the importance of the role of autonomous districts and seek concrete implementation plans for projects that all citizens can experience.
Lee stated, "For the Asian Culture Hub City Project to be sustainable, citizen interest and the role of autonomous districts are crucial," adding, "It is necessary to establish a balanced roadmap for the 'Five Major Cultural Zones' projects being promoted by the city for each autonomous district, and we must also review and smoothly promote cultural zone projects that have not been implemented so far."
Presenters include Jung Seonggu, head of the Urban Environment Division of the Support Forum, who will give a presentation on "The Status of the Asian Culture Hub City Project and Major Projects in Gwangsan-gu." Panelists for the discussion will include Baek Okyeon, head of the Gwangsan-gu Cultural Heritage Utilization Team, Oh Eunyoung, representative of Forum Culture and City, Yoon Hyunseok, CEO of Culture Network, and Lee Mincheol, director of the Gwangsan-gu Urban Regeneration Community Center.
The event is open to the public, and anyone can participate freely on the day of the event without prior registration.
