About 30 people, including representatives of award-winning companies in the province, attended the awards ceremony held on the 23rd at the Anmin Hall of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government Office. Gumi City once again proved its status as the economic hub of Gyeongbuk by simultaneously winning the highest honors, the Grand Prize and the Excellence Award, at this ceremony.
GIS, which received the Grand Prize, is a specialized company in display process automation and inspection equipment solutions. It started as Gumi’s representative local company, Gueil Engineering, and changed its name to GIS this year after being acquired by NeonTech. Based on its accumulated technological expertise, the company was recognized for its contributions to pioneering overseas markets and expanding exports, receiving the ‘50 Million Dollar Export Tower’ award in 2023 and the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Commendation on Trade Day in 2024, among other outstanding achievements.
Daejin Machinery, which received the Excellence Award, is a specialized manufacturer of industrial automation control equipment for semiconductors, secondary batteries, and more. Since its founding in 1980, it has contributed to the regional economy through technological innovation and job creation for over 40 years, actively developing domestic and international markets. In particular, this year, it continues its steady growth by constructing and relocating its headquarters and new factory to the Gumi 5 Industrial Complex.
At the same event, Gumi City also solidified its position as the top corporate city in Gyeongbuk by receiving the Excellence Award in the city evaluation category of the ‘2024 Gyeongbuk Province Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Policy City and County Evaluation.’
Mayor Jangho Kim said, “This award is the result of the innovation and growth of Gumi companies,” adding, “I congratulate the CEOs of GIS and Daejin Machinery, and Gumi City will continue to expand various support policies so that companies can achieve even greater leaps.”
