Kim Geun-sik, the head of the People Power Party's Songpa-byeong district committee, has put up a banner apologizing to local residents for President Yoon Seok-yeol's emergency martial law situation.
On the 21st, Kim (a professor of political science and diplomacy at Gyeongnam National University) shared on his Facebook, calling it a “banner posted in my constituency,” and revealed a photo of the banner he put up in the area under his name. The banner in the photo reads, “We were wrong. We reflect and will be reborn.” Along with the photo, he stated, “Although the mistake was made by President Yoon, I have to apologize, which is a frustrating and heartbreaking feeling.”
“Our party doesn’t even apologize... It’s frustrating to see how far they want to collapse”
Kim continued, “What’s worse is that our party hasn’t even made this (apology),” adding, “The anti-impeachment lawmakers are the mainstream of the party, and instead of reflecting or apologizing, they are defending President Yoon and talking about rooting out traitors, so it’s frustrating to see how far they want to collapse.” He also said, “Some people have sent me texts or called me to protest after seeing the banner,” describing them as “those who ask what we did wrong but justify President Yoon’s martial law, are confident in the dismissal of impeachment, and believe in election fraud conspiracy theories.”
“Those polluting the party should go to Jeon Gwang-hoon’s party”
Kim asked, “I ask again. Those people, please do not stay in our party and go to Jeon Gwang-hoon’s party,” fiercely criticizing, “They are ultimately polluting our party into an extreme right-wing conspiracy party, making it a party that will forever lose in the metropolitan area and be abandoned by the people.” He added, “The party should take a stand, separate Yoon Seok-yeol from the extreme right-wing election fraud party, and be reborn as a new rational conservative party through change and innovation, but the party mainstream hides behind the extreme right-wing hardliners, who continue to pollute the party,” pointing out, “A tragic situation is unfolding where the bad drives out the good.”
