Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that Mullae Library was selected as an excellent library in the 2024 Seoul Public Library Operation Evaluation and received a commendation from the Mayor of Seoul.

The Seoul Public Library Operation Evaluation is conducted for a total of 164 libraries, including Seoul libraries and district public libraries, to provide citizens with high-quality reading culture services.

The evaluation items consist of 8 areas and 13 detailed indicators, including ▲budget ▲collection ▲librarians ▲services ▲management plans, comprehensively assessing the previous year's operational performance.

In this evaluation, Mullae Library achieved the highest scores in a total of 9 indicators, including ▲budget growth rate compared to the previous year ▲collection completeness ▲director’s expertise ▲librarian growth rate ▲space and facility innovation ▲program participant growth rate compared to the previous year ▲community cooperation and bonding activities ▲operation plan establishment and implementation. It also achieved above-average results in the remaining 4 indicators, being recognized as a leading excellent library representing Seoul.

Remodeled in December 2022 into a complex cultural space, Mullae Library is leading the revitalization of the local reading culture by developing and providing diverse cultural content where various generations can interact and experience together.

In particular, Mullae Library is striving to establish itself as a cultural hub in the community through the specialized project ‘Mullae Didimdol,’ which discovers and connects local writers, artists, and cultural spaces.

This project collaborates with various cultural spaces and institutions within the region to produce new cultural content, offering rich cultural experiences to district residents.

Additionally, through various resident-tailored programs such as ‘Suspicious Library’ with moms and dads, the science reading program ‘Make It Science,’ meetings with authors, and humanities lectures, the library provides life-centered services that have received great responses from residents.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “We will strive to make Mullae Library a space where local residents communicate centered around books and where culture and information exchange.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to discover and support unique reading culture programs distinctive to the cultural city of Yeongdeungpo.”
