Lee Taemo, a member of the Nonsan City Council in Chungnam and a member of the People Power Party, received the Grand Prize in the Basic Council category at the 2024 Korea Local Autonomy Evaluation Legislative Policy Awards ceremony.
The Nonsan City Council announced on the 23rd that it had been selected as an outstanding basic council member nationwide and awarded the Grand Prize at the 2024 Korea Local Autonomy Evaluation Legislative Policy Awards, hosted by the Yeouido Policy Research Institute on the 20th.
Lee was highly evaluated for his performance in fulfilling pledges such as the redevelopment project for revitalizing Nonsan's old downtown, expanding city gas supply areas, and revitalizing traditional markets, as well as his attendance rate, records of proposing and co-sponsoring ordinances (enactment and amendment), and committee activities (collecting and addressing residents' opinions).
In particular, he was recognized for his legislative activities for the socially disadvantaged and citizens' safety, such as the Ordinance for the Prevention and Support of Solitary Deaths among the Elderly Living Alone in Nonsan, the Ordinance to Support Single-Person Households in Nonsan, and the Ordinance on the Operation of Nonsan Safety Guardians.
Lee Taemo stated, "I will continue to do my utmost as a representative of the citizens to fulfill my role for the development of local autonomy and the improvement of citizens' welfare."
