Hyundai Mobis Holds Idea Contest for Employees to Directly Judge

Selection of Brake · HUD Related Technologies
4,200 Cases Over 5 Years... Applied to Actual Mass-Produced Vehicles

Hyundai Mobis selected brake-related technology and augmented reality head-up display (HUD) realism enhancement technology as the top works in this year's idea contest for employees.

On the 23rd, Hyundai Mobis announced that it held the '2024 M-Fields Festa' at its Technology Research Center in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province on the 19th. This event, held for the fifth consecutive year, received a total of about 780 ideas this year.

Six ideas advanced to the final round. A judging panel of 300 employees decided the best ideas through on-site voting, similar to an audition program.

The ideas selected as the best works at this year’s M-Fields Festa were two: improvement of the electronic brake structure and augmented reality head-up display (HUD) realism enhancement technology. Eunhye Kim, a researcher at Hyundai Mobis who received the top prize, said, "It was very rewarding to create new possibilities for future mobility through a small change in perspective and to have many conversations about the ideas with my colleagues."

Hyundai Mobis President Kyuseok Lee personally attended the event to present the top awards and encourage the employees. The excellent ideas discovered this time will be further reviewed for economic feasibility and commercialization potential, and then concretized as technology promotion tasks. In fact, the 'Parabolic Motion Glove Box' applied to Kia’s large electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) EV9 was developed into a mass-produced item based on an idea proposed by a Hyundai Mobis employee.

Meanwhile, since starting with an idea bulletin board in 2019 and expanding to the M-Fields platform in 2020, the total number of idea proposals from Hyundai Mobis employees has reached 4,200. A Hyundai Mobis official said, "We plan to further strengthen idea proposal activities so that employees can freely express their ideas through voluntary motivation."
