Kwon Seong-dong, Acting Leader and Floor Leader of the People Power Party, said on the 22nd, "The special investigation laws on the internal rebellion and on Mrs. Kim Geon-hee, which were transferred to the government, contain the Democratic Party's intention to paralyze the government and the ruling party."

At a press conference held at the National Assembly on the same day, Acting Leader Kwon stated regarding the internal rebellion special investigation law, "If five agencies?the police, prosecution, Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), permanent special investigators, and general special investigators?investigate, it will fuel an overheated competition among investigations."

He continued, "What the people want is a strict fact-finding, not confusion in investigations," and criticized, "Isn't the Democratic Party focusing on inciting loyalty competition among power institutions rather than fact-finding?"

He also emphasized, "It is a clear constitutional violation for the opposition party to monopolize the right to recommend special investigation candidates," adding, "Even though the unconstitutional elements are clear, not using the veto power (request for reconsideration) is rather a constitutional violation."

Regarding the special investigation law on Mrs. Kim, he said, "Although it is called the special investigation law on Mrs. Kim, it is effectively a special investigation against the government and the ruling party," and criticized, "The opposition party's special investigators investigating 15 cases related to the government and ruling party is a special investigation outrage."

He added, "In particular, regarding the suspicions about Mr. Myeong Tae-gyun, the intention is to indiscriminately investigate People Power Party figures and frequently search party offices based on the unilateral claims of Mr. Myeong and Ms. Kang Hye-kyung."

Acting Leader Kwon said, "This is a politically oppressive special investigation law aimed at early presidential elections in case of impeachment approval."

Regarding the Democratic Party pressuring Acting Prime Minister Han Deok-su to promulgate the special investigation law, he criticized, "The Democratic Party is making threatening remarks such as 'appropriate consequences' and 'impeachment decision by Christmas,' effectively threatening to devastate the government."

Acting Leader Kwon emphasized, "The exercise of the veto power by the Acting President should be decided solely based on the Constitution," and added, "If you want to criticize the veto exercise on the two special investigation laws, the first priority is to remove the unconstitutional elements of the bills."

Regarding the ruling-opposition-government consultative body for national stability, he said, "Whether the party leader or the floor leader participates should be discussed by sitting down and talking together, not by stubbornly fighting," and proposed to Democratic Party Floor Leader Park Chan-dae, "Let's meet immediately, even today, to discuss the ruling-opposition-government consultative body."
