About 100 people, including Mayor Kim Jang-ho of Gumi, city council members, economic organizations, and company officials, attended the event to share the vision of the secondary battery industry.

The 'Gumi Win-Win Job Cooperation Center' serves as a hub for fostering the secondary battery industry and creating jobs. Through cooperation among local companies, institutions, and residents, it proposes a sustainable economic model and lays the foundation to advance as a high-tech industrial hub.

The opening ceremony included △ a plaque unveiling and cutting ceremony announcing the center's opening △ a special lecture on the secondary battery industry △ presentations on the secondary battery industry trends and mid- to long-term master plan by the GERI Next-Generation Energy Research Center and the Gumi Win-Win Job Cooperation Center.

The secondary battery industry has established itself as a core technology in various fields such as electric vehicles, energy storage systems (ESS), and IT devices, drawing attention as a central axis for carbon neutrality and eco-friendly industrial transformation. The city is building a secondary battery industry ecosystem in line with these industrial trends.

Through the opening of this center, Gumi City aims to expand cooperation among secondary battery-related companies and foster talent, promoting regional economic revitalization through job creation. In particular, LG-HY BCM, an anchor company in secondary battery materials, is expected to build a win-win model by collaborating with local companies.

A company official attending the event said, "Gumi City and Gyeongbuk Province are making efforts to foster the secondary battery industry, so we have high expectations," adding, "We hope that through the center's opening, local companies can secure global competitiveness and receive practical support for increasing sales."

Mayor Kim Jang-ho emphasized, "The opening of this cooperation center is the first step toward the development of the secondary battery industry," and added, "We will do our best to utilize the advanced industrial base actively to nurture Gumi as a center of the secondary battery industry and to revitalize the local economy."

Gumi City is promoting projects such as △ the BaaS demonstration base construction project to increase battery usability △ support projects for establishing secondary battery fostering hub centers △ support projects to strengthen the competitiveness of secondary battery companies. Through these efforts, the city plans to enhance the competitiveness of local industries and lead sustainable economic growth.
