On an Indian highway, a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker collided with a truck carrying flammable materials, causing a massive fire that resulted in 14 deaths, Indian media including the daily Times of India (TOI) reported on the 21st (local time).
According to reports, the accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. the previous day on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway in Rajasthan, northwestern India.
Immediately after the LPG tanker collided with the truck, the truck's flammable materials leaked and caught fire instantly.
The fire spread with a loud explosion to 37 vehicles nearby, including buses, trucks, and passenger cars.
During this process, people inside the vehicles who could not evacuate either died or suffered burns.
Among the 28 people injured by burns, many are in critical condition, so the death toll may rise.
The police stated that the bodies of the deceased were burned beyond recognition, requiring DNA testing for identification.
Residents reported that the multiple explosions during the accident were heard as far as 10 km away.
The highway, which was closed immediately after the accident, was reopened late the previous night.
