Man Believed to Be North Korean Soldier Says "Shot Down 3 out of 4"

A video has been released showing a man presumed to be a North Korean soldier deployed to Russia sharing his experiences related to drone attacks.

The U.S. Radio Free Asia (RFA) reported on the 20th (local time) that a pro-Ukraine Telegram account, ‘Exilenova+’, posted a video on the 17th containing such content.

The video shows a man believed to be a North Korean soldier deployed in Kursk, Russia, talking with men who appear to be Russian soldiers inside their lodging.

The man spoke in Korean with an excited voice and exaggerated hand gestures, saying, “Drones keep flying in.” In response, a man presumed to be a Russian soldier mimicked the sound of a drone’s flight with his mouth, and the North Korean soldier imitated an explosion sound in agreement.

Then, the man presumed to be a North Korean soldier spoke mixing English and Korean, and from the content, it is inferred that he encountered four Ukrainian drones and shot down three of them with a gun.

At that, the man presumed to be a Russian soldier said in English, “Good Guy,” and the video ended.

Radio Free Asia stated that the authenticity of the video has not yet been confirmed.

Earlier, Ukraine’s special forces (COO) claimed on the 17th that over 50 North Korean soldiers were killed and 47 wounded in drone attacks over just three days until the 16th. On the 19th, they also released a video on social media claiming to show North Korean soldiers being killed by drone attacks on the Russian front in Kursk.

The National Intelligence Service reported at a closed briefing held by the National Assembly Intelligence Committee on the 19th that North Korean soldiers deployed to the Ukraine war lack the capability to respond to drone attacks, and that the number of deaths is estimated to be at least around 100.

At that time, the National Intelligence Service mentioned, “Even before this engagement, there were indications that several North Korean soldiers, including high-ranking officials, had already been casualties due to Ukrainian missile and drone attacks as well as training accidents.”
