The meeting was attended by Governor Seo Tae-won, directors, heads of related departments, Gapyeong-gun Council member Choi Won-jung, and about 10 members of the Sustainable Development Committee. The meeting reviewed the progress of the sustainable development indicators for Gapyeong-gun, which were finalized in January, and discussed items that required modification.
The sustainable development plan was prepared in accordance with the Framework Act on Sustainable Development to establish sustainable economic growth and an inclusive society in Gapyeong-gun over the next 20 years, and to respond to climate and environmental crises. The goal is to present policy directions that allow both current and future generations to enjoy a better life.
Gapyeong-gun set 3 major strategies, 17 goals, 57 detailed objectives, and 133 implementation tasks based on the interconnectivity of the economic, social, and environmental sectors. Through this, the county aims to improve the quality of life for residents and realize sustainable county administration.
Governor Seo Tae-won emphasized, "The sustainable development plan is not just a simple plan but a vision to make Gapyeong-gun the number one city in Korea where future generations want to live and visit," adding, "We will systematically implement the tasks to realize 'Gapyeong, a city that blossoms nature into economy.'"
Gapyeong-gun plans to continue implementing citizen-centered policies based on sustainable development tasks and strive for sustainable development in the future.
