Governor Kim Taeheum: "We Will Foster 3,000 Young Farmers with Annual Incomes Over 50 Million Won" Kim Taeheum Chungnam Governor

On the 20th, Kim Tae-heum, Governor of Chungnam Province, announced, "We will establish 2.5 million pyeong of smart farms and foster 3,000 young farmers with an annual income of over 50 million won."

At the 'Chungnam SSEn Agricultural Committee' held in the provincial government’s main conference room on this day, Governor Kim stated, "Through a pension system for elderly, retired farmers, we must transfer farmland to young farmers and create collective residential spaces to provide a pleasant living environment."

He continued, "Korea's agriculture and rural areas are facing difficulties such as an aging population, abnormal climate, and low income, making it hard to attract young people," and emphasized, "To reform the structure and system of agriculture and rural areas, we must raise the standards for farmers and transform agriculture from a welfare or industry-based approach into a profitable, industrially competitive sector."

Meanwhile, at the committee meeting, Kang Maya, a research fellow at the Chungnam Institute, presented goals including a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2045 compared to 2021 and the creation of new growth engines, aiming for 'a new reform of agricultural and rural structures through the realization of carbon-neutral agriculture.'
