Dongmyeong University Department of Speech Therapy and Audiology Graduate Ji-hyun Lee, Ranked First Nationwide in Level 1 Speech Therapist National Exam

The Department of Speech Therapy and Auditory Rehabilitation at Dongmyung University recently announced that Lee Ji-hyun, a student from the 2016 class, achieved the top score in the 13th National Examination for Level 1 Speech Rehabilitation Therapist in 2024.

According to the National Health Personnel Licensing Examination Board, 987 candidates took the Level 1 national exam this year, with 507 passing, resulting in a pass rate of 51.4%. The top scorer was reported to be Lee Ji-hyun from Dongmyung University.

Graduate Lee Ji-hyun is currently working as a speech therapist at Work Rehabilitation Hospital in Yeonje-gu, Busan.

Upon hearing the news of her top score, she said, “The environment at Dongmyung University’s Department of Speech Therapy and Auditory Rehabilitation, where full-time professors specializing in major disabilities for the speech rehabilitation national exam teach, helped me study each subject in depth.”

Professor Oh So-jung, head of the department, commented, “This result seems to reflect the department’s curriculum focus on students’ success in the national exam and their ability to handle practical work in the field.” She added, “We are especially pleased to have produced the nationwide top scorer in the hearing specialist exam last year and now the nationwide top scorer in the speech rehabilitation therapist national exam this year, achieving top scores in all major certification exams of the department.”

The Department of Speech Therapy and Auditory Rehabilitation at Dongmyung University operates a curriculum that allows students to obtain both Level 2 Speech Rehabilitation Therapist and Hearing Specialist certifications simultaneously. Starting this year, a graduate master’s program has been established, and last year the department produced the nationwide top scorer in the hearing specialist exam and the second highest scorer in the Level 2 speech rehabilitation therapist national exam.
