30ha Scale to Be Completed by 2027 with 70.3 Billion Won Investment
Buyeo-gun in Chungnam is seeking to transform its agricultural structure into smart agriculture by fostering young farmers in response to the accelerating decline and aging of the agricultural population.
In 2020, the county became the first in the nation to establish a 24.8-hectare smart horticultural complex, equivalent to the size of 30 soccer fields.
As a result of actively implementing smart farm support policies, such as operating the nation's first ICT Smart Farm Integrated Control Center, Buyeo-gun now accounts for 40% of the smart farm area and 27% of the smart farm households in Chungnam.
The county plans to invest a total project cost of 70.3 billion KRW to build the nation's largest smart agriculture innovation city by 2027.
The Smart Agriculture Innovation City, covering an area of 30 hectares, will support the establishment of a Smart Farm Integrated Support Center, the creation of a 25-hectare smart farm complex, the development of a smart agriculture workforce training base, a youth-customized rental smart farm complex, and projects for new smart farm construction and the expansion of smart farm ICT.
In addition, by 2030, a total project cost of 245 billion KRW will be invested to build agricultural infrastructure that incorporates innovative science and technology and responds to abnormal climate conditions.
To this end, the county plans to implement projects such as the Buyeo District Paddy Field Multipurpose Water Supply Project to provide clean water to large-scale horticultural complexes, the Bansan District Rural Water Use System Reform Project and other drought area water supply projects, and permanent flood damage countermeasures for horticultural special crop districts, such as drainage improvements.
