Gyeonggi Hanam City (Mayor Lee Hyun-jae) and Hanam Urban Corporation (President Choi Cheol-gyu) have accelerated the creation of a high-tech industrial hub by successfully concluding the Camp Colburn urban development project private participant recruitment briefing session, which attracted keen interest from leading domestic construction companies and financial institutions.

According to Hanam City on the 20th, Hanam Urban Corporation held the "Camp Colburn Complex Self-Sufficient District (tentative name) Urban Development Project Private Participant Briefing Session" on the 19th at the Comprehensive Welfare Town. The event was attended by about 100 representatives from 52 companies, including major domestic construction companies such as WooMi Construction and Ssangyong Construction, financial institutions, and developers.
The Camp Colburn urban development project is a public-private joint urban development project aimed at creating a convergence complex to strengthen Hanam City's self-sufficient functions, including future-oriented high-tech industries, on the approximately 250,000㎡ site of the former U.S. military base Camp Colburn, located in the Hasangok-dong area, which is a U.S. military return land.
This briefing session was held after the announcement of the recruitment of private participants for Camp Colburn, designed to provide detailed explanations of the overall project and the public offering guidelines to companies interested in participating.
At the briefing session, Hanam Urban Corporation expressed its commitment to actively cooperate with Hanam City throughout all stages of project implementation. Since the Camp Colburn urban development project focuses on job creation through industrial infrastructure establishment, the plan is to achieve tangible investment results through collaboration with companies interested in investing.
Although there are additional points for headquarters relocation or new growth businesses desired by Gyeonggi Province and Hanam City, the public offering guidelines specify that there are no restrictions on specific tenant industries or facilities. This reflects a strong intention to attract corporate investment through development centered on actual demand, accommodating diverse corporate ideas.
Additionally, Hanam City, where the Camp Colburn site is located, emphasized its strategic location as a transportation hub with excellent connectivity. The area boasts five railway lines (Lines 3, 5, 9, Wirye-Sinsa Line, GTX-D and F) and five highway networks (including the Metropolitan Area 1st Ring Expressway and Jungbu Expressway), both existing and under construction, highlighting its outstanding development potential.
During the final Q&A session, reflecting the strong interest in the Camp Colburn project, various opinions and questions were raised, including the direction of proposed strategic fostering facilities, the current status of contamination cleanup in the returned land, and the direction of efforts to lift development restrictions.
A Hanam Urban Corporation official responded to inquiries about the "direction of proposed strategic fostering facilities" by stating, "Companies can freely propose plans to secure self-sufficient functions that will revitalize Hanam City's regional economy and enhance future growth potential by reviewing the contents outlined in the public offering guidelines."
Mayor Lee Hyun-jae of Hanam City said, "Hanam City plans to proceed with this project as swiftly as possible to heal the pain of Hasangok-dong residents who have suffered from the lack of regional development due to the long-term presence of the U.S. military base."
He added, "Since the Camp Colburn urban development project is carried out as a public-private joint project that can reflect the private sector's creative ideas, we ask for the active interest and participation of private participants."
Meanwhile, the Camp Colburn site has the advantage that administrative procedures for project implementation can proceed quickly once a project operator is selected, as land contamination cleanup was completed in November 2011 after the site was returned in April 2007. Hanam Urban Corporation plans to receive letters of intent for project participation by the 24th of this month and accept applications for private participant designation and project plans by March 24 of next year.
