Residents Who Have Lived in the Province for Over Six Months
Jeju Special Self-Governing Province will officially implement a postpartum care expense support program starting in 2025 to alleviate the financial burden on families with newborns.
This program, based on the 'Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Postpartum Care Expense Support Ordinance,' provides partial support for the cost of using postpartum care centers. To be eligible, the following conditions must all be met: either the father or mother must have been registered as a resident in Jeju for at least six months as of the baby's birth date; either the father or mother must be registered as a resident in Jeju on the date of application; and the infant must also be registered as a resident in Jeju.
The amount of support is 400,000 KRW for the cost of using a postpartum care center. However, if the applicant has already received benefits from similar programs, such as the maternal and newborn health management service co-payment support program, duplicate support will not be provided.
Applications can be submitted within 60 days after the end of postpartum care center use at the public health center with jurisdiction over the mother's registered address.
Kang Dongwon, Director of the Safety and Health Office, stated, "We hope this support program will provide practical help to mothers as a policy to encourage childbirth and overcome the low birth rate in the province."
