Controversy has arisen as leaflets supporting President Yoon Suk-yeol's declaration of emergency martial law on December 3rd have been distributed throughout some apartment complexes in the Busan area. On the 17th, a post appeared on an online community stating, "Are they distributing leaflets in Busan because the South is more urgent than sending them to North Korea?" The leaflet had a large headline that read, "If it were me... I would also declare martial law." It also contained content claiming that the opposition party's impeachment of government officials and budget processing issues were reasons for the martial law declaration.

Netizens who saw the leaflet reacted with comments like, "It's scarier that this is serious and not just a part-time job," "Do those people even know what martial law means?" and "How did the sacred site of the Busan-Masan Uprising end up like this?"


Additionally, following the "impeachment political crisis," party banners hung on the streets of Busan have been repeatedly damaged, prompting police investigations. On the 19th, Busan Dongnae Police Station announced that they are investigating the damage to a banner calling for Yoon Suk-yeol's impeachment near Suan Station on Line 4 of the Dongnae District urban railway. The police began the investigation after receiving a report from the Democratic Party of Korea, who witnessed the banner being damaged shortly after the "December 3rd emergency martial law incident." A banner condemning Seo Ji-young, a member of the People Power Party who abstained from the impeachment vote, was also found torn on a road in Sajik-dong, Dongnae District. However, it is known that no formal report has been filed yet.

The police apprehended a suspect who damaged a photo of Lee Jae-sung, chairman of the Democratic Party's Busan City Committee, printed on the banner. Saha Police Station arrested an 80-year-old man, Mr. A, on charges of property damage for damaging Lee Jae-sung's placard.


Mr. A is accused of damaging a placard featuring Chairman Lee Jae-sung near Natgae Station on Line 1 of the Dadae-dong urban railway in Saha District with shards of a glass bottle at 6:46 p.m. on the 9th. The investigation began after a citizen passing by reported the incident at 3:30 p.m. on the 11th, and Chairman Lee's side filed a complaint. According to the police investigation, Mr. A damaged the banner because he thought poorly of Chairman Lee's character and believed he was not fit to be a member of the National Assembly. However, Mr. A reportedly claimed that he was not responsible for all the banner damage incidents occurring throughout the Busan area.
