Recruitment Conducted for New Da-gun, Advanced Convergence Department, and More
University of Seoul will recruit 828 students through regular admissions, accounting for 44.8% of the total 1,849 students for the 2025 academic year.
In the regular admissions, 155 students will be selected in Group A, 658 in Group B, and 15 in Group C. Group C is newly established this year, and recruitment will be conducted in three units: the Department of Convergence Applied Chemistry and the School of Advanced Convergence (Convergence Biohealth Major, Advanced Artificial Intelligence Major).
The general admission for humanities and natural sciences will be based 100% on the CSAT scores. From the 2025 academic year, University of Seoul has relaxed the restrictions on the subjects reflected in the inquiry area. Until the 2024 academic year, Humanities III could only apply with social studies, and natural sciences only with science inquiry, but from the 2025 regular admissions, applicants can apply regardless of the inquiry area classification. For the inquiry area, humanities students who select both social studies subjects will receive a 3% bonus on the inquiry area score, and natural science students who select both science inquiry subjects will receive a 7% bonus, allowing students with high major suitability in each field to apply.
Following the government's policy to expand the major autonomy system, the Division of Liberal Studies, which was previously only in the humanities, has also increased. It is divided into Division of Liberal Studies (Humanities) and Division of Liberal Studies (Natural Sciences), selecting a total of 32 students. Students admitted to the Division of Liberal Studies can choose any department or major without separate personnel restrictions except for the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Department of Convergence Applied Chemistry, School of Convergence Majors, School of Advanced Convergence, and arts and physical education departments when they advance to the second year, regardless of the field they applied for at admission.
The arts and physical education departments will select the same number of students as last year: 21 for the Department of Music, 29 for the Department of Design, 36 for the Department of Sculpture, and 30 for the Department of Sports Science.
Applicants for the special admissions outside the regular quota, 'Opportunity Balance Admission II,' must take the 2025 College Scholastic Ability Test as in the previous year. The total number of recruits is 102, including 34 rural students, 25 graduates of specialized high schools, 33 recipients of basic living subsidies, and 10 persons with disabilities. The special admission for North Korean defectors will select candidates without a limit on the number of recruits within Group B humanities and natural sciences through 50% document screening and 50% oral examination.
Regarding the government's comprehensive measures to eradicate school violence, University of Seoul will reflect disciplinary actions related to school violence recorded in the applicant's school life records from the 2025 academic year and impose disadvantages such as point deductions depending on the severity. In this regular admission, all admissions will deduct up to 30 points from the total admission score.
Application for University of Seoul's regular admissions will be conducted for three days from 10 a.m. on the 31st of this month to 6 p.m. on January 2nd next year. Practical and interview exams for arts and physical education will be held from January 7th to January 17th next year. The first successful candidates will be announced on February 7th next year.
