Most admission units, including the general admission and the rural area, social consideration, special education, and specialized high school tracks, select students solely based on the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) scores. However, the College of Medicine conducts an additional 'aptitude and personality interview' without separate scoring, used only for disqualification purposes. The Department of Physical Education and the Division of Design and Plastic Arts select students by combining 70% CSAT scores and 30% practical skills, while the Department of Cyber Defense combines 80% CSAT scores with 20% military interview and physical fitness test scores.

The academic excellence track selects freshmen by combining 80% CSAT scores and 20% high school academic records across all admission units except the College of Medicine. The College of Medicine conducts an aptitude and personality interview without separate scoring for disqualification purposes. Detailed information on how academic records are reflected can be found in the admission guidelines.

The undergraduate colleges recruiting in the newly introduced third group (Da-gun) operate under a major autonomous selection system. This applies to 43 departments and divisions excluding certain majors such as Medicine and Nursing.

Starting this year, Korea University recognizes all three elective mathematics subjects in the CSAT (Probability and Statistics, Calculus, Geometry) regardless of the applicant's chosen admission unit or academic track. English scores apply deductions by grade, and Korean History awards additional points by grade across all admission units.

Humanities-related admission units, as well as the Department of Home Economics, College of Nursing, and Department of Physical Education, apply scores from Korean, Mathematics, English, two Social Studies (or Science) subjects, and Korean History. Korean and Mathematics each account for 36%, and the Social Studies (or Science) section accounts for about 29%. Natural science admission units, excluding the Department of Home Economics and College of Nursing, apply Korean, Mathematics, English, two Science subjects, and Korean History, with Korean and Science each accounting for about 31%, and Mathematics about 38%.

The Division of Design and Plastic Arts applies Korean, English, two Social Studies (or Science) subjects, and Korean History, with Korean accounting for about 56% and Social Studies (or Science) about 44%. The undergraduate colleges apply Korean, Mathematics, English, two Social Studies (or Science) subjects, and Korean History, with Korean about 33%, Mathematics 40%, and Social Studies (or Science) about 27%.

The regular admission application period for the Seoul campus is from 10 a.m. on December 31 to 5 p.m. on January 2 of the following year, and for the Sejong campus, from 10 a.m. on December 31 to 6 p.m. on January 3 of the following year.
