Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 20th that it held the 'Visiting Future City Support Center' on the 18th and 19th in Haeundae-gu and Buk-gu, Busan, in collaboration with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Busan City.
LH established the Visiting Future City Support Center to expand the functions of the Future City Support Center, which was responsible for consulting on the redevelopment projects of the first-generation new towns, to local regions.
The event was conducted with expert lectures on the direction of redevelopment for Busan's aging planned cities and one-on-one face-to-face consultations with residents.
Starting with Busan, LH will continue such events targeting non-metropolitan areas like Incheon and Daejeon, which are establishing basic plans for aging cities.
Meanwhile, on the 18th, LH held an explanatory meeting on the public implementation method and resident support plans for residents selected in the pioneering district of Sanbon New Town in Gunpo City, Gyeonggi Province, the first of the first-generation new towns. Two pioneering districts in Sanbon New Town hope for LH public implementation.
Before forming the legally mandated Resident Representative Council, LH formed an 'Integrated Preparatory Committee' led by residents to accelerate project progress and plans to establish a special redevelopment plan for the pioneering district by the end of next year.
Kim Je-gyeong, head of LH's Regional Balance Headquarters, said, "Public support is necessary for the redevelopment of first-generation new towns and aging non-metropolitan cities," adding, "We will help renovate old residential environments and transform them into sustainable future cities."
