Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) confirmed the 2025 main budget of 1.055 trillion won on the 18th after approval by the Gwanak-gu Council, continuing the ‘1 trillion won era’ for the second consecutive year.

This amount is 52 billion won (5.2%) higher than this year’s budget, consisting of 1.0347 trillion won in the general account and 20.3 billion won in the special account.

Amid unstable domestic and international conditions and prolonged economic recession making tax revenue collection difficult, and with increasing financial expenditures such as expanded welfare costs, the district made multifaceted efforts to overcome these challenging financial conditions.

First, the district focused next year’s budget on ‘improving residents’ happiness and quality of life,’ steadily promoting the creation of a ‘healing and garden city’ where residents can enjoy and relax.

With projects such as ‘street flower planting (300 million won)’ and ‘creation of leftover green garden on Nangok-ro (800 million won),’ the district plans to provide residents with healing spaces within the urban area. It will also focus on providing leisure and cultural content that all generations can enjoy together, including ▲repair and maintenance of Gwanaksan Park gateball court (100 million won) ▲operation of forest leisure programs (68 million won) ▲operation of Gwanaksan water playground (180 million won) ▲operation of forest experience for infants (300 million won).

The district allocated 690.9 billion won, accounting for 65.5% of the total budget, for customized welfare services tailored to residents’ life cycles. This includes ▲increasing allowances for national veterans and establishing welfare allowances for spouses (3.57 billion won) ▲support for Kkangchung Kkangchung growth childcare subsidy (970 million won) ▲support for daycare center operations (7 billion won) ▲support for postpartum care expenses (1.1 billion won), reflecting the needs of each household.

Additionally, the district is expanding user-centered infrastructure such as ▲operation of dementia relief centers (1.1 billion won) ▲construction of Gwanak Cultural Welfare Town (1 billion won) ▲construction of Senior Comprehensive Welfare Town (4.4 billion won), striving to make Gwanak a welfare city where all residents are happy.

Efforts will be made to provide stable jobs and foster the startup ecosystem through ▲public jobs (3 billion won) ▲establishment of Gwanak Job Happiness Corporation (300 million won) ▲establishment of Gwanak Small and Medium Venture Promotion Center (770 million won).

Along with this, support for small and medium-sized merchants such as ▲local brand commercial district development project (200 million won) ▲issuance of Gwanak Love public delivery app exclusive gift certificates (2.4 billion won) will revitalize the local economy.

Investment to create a quality educational environment was not spared. For the ‘education expense subsidy project’ for customized educational welfare, 10 billion won was allocated, an increase of 2 billion won compared to this year.

In addition, a total of 18.7 billion won was allocated for projects such as ▲support for eco-friendly school meals (5.4 billion won) ▲support for lifelong education usage vouchers (300 million won) to provide residents with quality learning opportunities and educational environments.

The district allocated a total of 45.8 billion won to resolve residents’ daily inconveniences and create a safe daily life. First, to alleviate parking difficulties in residential areas, a long-standing resident demand, the budget includes ▲construction of Sangdo Neighborhood Park public parking lot (4.8 billion won) ▲construction of Moraenae Park public parking lot (2.8 billion won). Investments will continue for road and sewage facility repairs and expansions to create an environment where residents can live with peace of mind.

The goals for Gwanak-gu’s 2025 financial management are ▲a healing and garden city where residents are happy ▲strengthening customized welfare by life cycle ▲fostering an innovative economic city ▲creating a reliable and safe living environment ▲a city shining with education and culture.

District Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “In these unstable domestic and international situations, restoring residents’ daily lives is more important than ever,” adding, “We will prioritize stabilizing people’s livelihoods, execute necessary budgets as early as possible, and concentrate all administrative power.”
