Four Special Promotions in 2024 First and Second Half... First Implementation Since Gaechung
Providing Economic Benefits Throughout Life, Motivating Public Officials
Recognizing Outstanding Administrative Achievements, Expecting Vitality in Public Service
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that on December 1st, it selected two outstanding public officials for the second half of the year and awarded them special promotion appointment letters.
The special promotion is a reward system that grants a one-step salary increase to public officials who have achieved excellent work performance, and it was implemented for the first time since the establishment of Yeongdeungpo-gu. This system holds great significance as it provides substantial economic benefits throughout the entire career of public officials while officially recognizing their work achievements and contributions.
The special promotion plays an important role beyond simple compensation by establishing a performance-oriented culture in the public service and revitalizing the entire organization.
For this second half special promotion, five public officials recommended by each department underwent a fair process including ▲work performance ▲multi-faceted employee evaluations ▲review by the district personnel committee, and finally two were selected. The selected officials received high evaluations for their innovative administrative achievements that protected residents' safety and revitalized the city.
The officials chosen for special promotion achieved major accomplishments such as ▲‘Administrative enforcement against illegal advertisements and maintenance of legitimate banners for residents' safety’ and ▲‘Creation of the Mullae-dong Flower Garden and hosting the 1st Yeongdeungpo Garden Festival’.
They took the lead in resolving illegal advertisements, which had been neglected for years due to the Assembly and Demonstration Act, through administrative enforcement following proper procedures, thereby establishing a system for managing illegal advertisements.
Additionally, they transformed the public land in Mullae-dong, previously used as a materials warehouse, into a resident-friendly space called the ‘Mullae-dong Flower Garden,’ presenting the vision of Yeongdeungpo as a garden city. They successfully held the first garden festival, providing residents with a space for relaxation and healing, which received great response.
Through the special promotion system, the district is establishing a performance-oriented personnel culture within the public service and encouraging proactive and creative administration. In the first half of this year, two public officials who contributed to regional development?such as ▲discovering omitted resident tax employee portions using new survey techniques and ▲promoting public housing projects in slum areas and withdrawing public rental housing on the Yeouido LH site?were also selected for special promotion.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “This special promotion officially recognizes the achievements of employees who actively and proactively performed their duties for the residents,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to raise employee morale through fair recognition and rewards for achievements and to invigorate the public service culture.”
