The Yangsan City Council in Gyeongnam achieved a grade 2 rating in the 2024 Comprehensive Integrity Evaluation of Public Institutions conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
This result marks a one-grade improvement compared to the 2023 evaluation, reflecting the consistent efforts of the Yangsan City Council bearing fruit.
During the 2nd regular session, the Yangsan City Council became the first among basic councils in Gyeongnam Province to enact the 'Integrity Improvement Support Ordinance.' The council has continuously worked to raise awareness of integrity by completing integrity education for all members and conducting self-inspections for violations of the conflict of interest prevention system.
As a result, in the integrity perception evaluation, the scores for corruption perception and corruption experience were consistently higher than the average of 75 basic city councils, indicating a positive change in citizens' trust toward the Yangsan City Council.
Chairman Kwak Jong-po stated, "This evaluation result has become an opportunity for the Yangsan City Council to further strengthen trust with citizens," adding, "We will prepare various measures to enhance integrity and expand communication with citizens." He also promised to become a more reliable council through continuous efforts.
Based on this integrity evaluation result, the Yangsan City Council pledges to do its best to create a more transparent and trustworthy city council in the future and to establish systems that listen more attentively to the voices of citizens.
