Pukyong National University Hosts 'Busan Susanin Night'... Gathering Industry, Government, and Academia in Fisheries Sector

National Pukyong National University (President Bae Sang-hoon) held the ‘2024 Busan Fisheries Night’ event on the afternoon of the 18th at the Pukyong Convention Hall.

The ‘2024 Fisheries Night’ was hosted by the National Pukyong University Seafood Processing Research Center (Director Jeon Byung-soo), the LINC3.0 Project Group (Director Ryu Ji-yeol), and the Blue Food Innovation Ecosystem Creation Project Group (Director Lee Sang-gil), and organized by the 12th Alumni Association of the Fisheries Expert Course.

About 150 people, including Lee Geum-ok, Head of the Fisheries Promotion Division of Busan City, National Pukyong University Vice President Ha Myung-shin, and alumni of the Fisheries Expert Course, attended the event to share achievements and future visions in the fisheries sector and to strengthen networks among experts and stakeholders.

The Fisheries Expert Course is a program designed to transfer advanced fisheries technology and trends to local seafood processing business owners and workers in order to secure the competitiveness of Busan’s fisheries industry. Since its establishment in 2012 by the National Pukyong University Seafood Processing Research Center under the commission of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and Busan City, the program has produced a total of about 380 fisheries professionals, including 32 this year.

At this event, seminars such as △The First Step to Leap Forward for Seafood Food Companies △Industry-Academia-Government Cooperation Plans for the Development of Busan’s Blue Food Tech shared information on the current status and future prospects of the fisheries industry, and product exhibitions and promotions by the Fisheries Expert Course alumni provided insights into industry trends.

Jeon Byung-soo, Director of the Seafood Processing Research Center, stated, “The fisheries industry is a core industry of the marine city Busan and an important sector responsible for our future. We hope that even after the Fisheries Expert Course education, networking events for exchange and cooperation will provide opportunities for closer collaboration among local governments, universities, and industries to move forward together.”
