Highlighting the Future of Sejong's Digital Content Industry

The '2024 DX FESTA,' a performance report meeting for the Sejong 2024 SW Convergence Cluster 2.0 workforce development sector, was successfully held on Thursday, November 14, at the Hongik Art Hall, Hongik University Sejong. Co-hosted by Korea University Sejong (Lead Professor Kim Jaewon) and Hongik University Sejong (Lead Professor Yoo Dongyoung), this event shared the achievements of the digital content professional workforce development sectors of the 'Sejong SW Convergence Cluster 2.0,' including the ‘Education and Industry-Academia-Research New Normal Project,’ ‘Pivot Program,’ and ‘Field Talent Cultivation Program,’ while presenting the vision for Sejong’s digital content industry and strategies for nurturing future SW talent.

The event began with awards for outstanding companies and student projects of the year, followed by exhibition booths where companies and students collaboratively developed and demonstrated SW and content technologies firsthand. Additionally, the Story Lab (a digital content field presentation competition) was held, drawing significant attention as participants shared their experiences in the technology development process. Notably, in the Story Lab, participants presented creative and proactive ideas centered on the overall process of SW development, including ‘problem recognition,’ ‘solution derivation,’ ‘business model construction,’ and ‘technology utilization.’ Among the 12 participating teams, the MT Square team (startup founders Kim Siyun and Kim Myungcheol), AI Digital Creator team (startup founder Lee Soeun), and Comprehensive Gift Set team (Hongik University Software Convergence Department students Kang Bochan, Kwon Deokjae, Kim Kihyun, and Lee Seungho) were honored with awards.

Moreover, the event featured a VR content experience center, a local creator startup exhibition, and a keynote lecture. Among these, Professor Yoo Dongyoung’s (Hongik University Sejong Software Convergence Department) lecture titled ‘The Importance of Data Security in the AI Era and Our Role’ received positive evaluations for ‘establishing a foundation that can contribute to future innovation through the need for content security enhancement technology management and a comprehensive understanding of virtual reality,’ deeply addressing the importance of data security and attracting great interest from attendees.

Participants evaluated the event as “a meaningful opportunity to share cooperation plans for innovation in the SW content industry in the digital transformation era and for regional and industrial growth,” expressing confidence that the SW Convergence Cluster 2.0 workforce development project will play a crucial role in advancing the SW digital content industry in the Sejong region.

Han Jeonghee, Director of the Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation at Hongik University Sejong, stated, “The core workforce leads the future of the SW digital content industry,” emphasizing that “continuous investment and cooperation among institutions, companies, and universities in talent development are essential.” Furthermore, Hongik University Sejong (Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation Convergence Talent Center), which executes the project, plans to expand support for local talent and companies through various support programs, including the ‘Industry-Academia-Research New Normal Project’ and the ‘Field Talent Cultivation Program,’ focusing on technology development, SW capability enhancement, recruitment linkage, and patent applications. They are currently pre-recruiting collaborative companies and participating students for the next year.
