Lawyer Seo Jeong-wook Denies 'Fortune Teller Rumors'
"Mrs. Kim Has Excellent Political Sense and Is Rational"
"Understands Yoon's Intentions but No Feasibility"
There are rumors that First Lady Kim Geon-hee declared emergency martial law on December 3rd after consulting a fortune teller, but Seo Jung-wook, a conservative political commentator and lawyer, claims this is not true.
On the 16th, Park Ji-won, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, appeared on SBS Radio's "Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show" and mentioned the rumors surrounding the First Lady. He first criticized, "President Yoon Seok-yeol has only looked at Kim Geon-hee, not the people, for the past two years and seven months." Regarding President Yoon's public address following the passage of the impeachment motion, he said, "'I will fight to the end with the people,' he said, and that reminded me of what a physiognomy professor I once mentioned said." He added, "President Yoon has a crocodile face and walks in a slow, lumbering way. Crocodiles never lose a fight and fight to the end. That made me think, 'They are still living under superstition.'" Furthermore, he said, "There are even rumors now that the First Lady declared martial law after listening to fortune tellers," but added, "The rumors are reasonable. They are talking about it because of such a past."

However, Seo Jung-wook denied these claims. On the 18th, on MBC Radio's "Kwon Soon-pyo's News High Kick," when the host said, "At first, the dominant rumor was that President Yoon declared martial law without telling the First Lady, but recently there are talks that it was done after consulting with her," Seo replied, "After checking with Yongsan and others, the former is correct." When the host pointed out, "Considering the process so far, if such an important matter was done without the First Lady knowing, it is likely she would have been very furious," Seo countered, "Has the First Lady ever intervened in state affairs?" and stated, "If I were a cabinet member, I would have also discouraged martial law." Regarding the rumor that "If the First Lady had known, she would have stopped it," he said, "The First Lady is politically savvy and rational, so I also think so," adding, "I understand the president's pure intentions, but they were not feasible."
Meanwhile, the documentary film "First Lady," which deals with various controversies related to the First Lady, was released on the 3rd and has surpassed 40,000 cumulative viewers. The film is known to cover topics such as the luxury handbag incident involving the First Lady, the controversy over the Yangpyeong Expressway route change, allegations of civilian interference in state affairs, falsification of academic background and career, plagiarism of theses, stock manipulation allegations involving Deutsch Motors, and connections with shamans including Cheonggong. Kim Hoon-tae, CEO of the production company Oneul Pictures, stated, "When we are indifferent, monsters that parasitize power are born and threaten our peaceful lives," and added, "I hope politically indifferent groups, centrists, especially young people in their 20s and 30s, watch this film without prejudice."
