Dangjin City in Chungnam Province achieved an excellent result by earning a Grade 2 (Excellent) rating for the third consecutive year in the “2024 Comprehensive Integrity Assessment of Public Institutions” organized by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.

From 2022 to 2024, the city has consistently maintained a Grade 2 (Excellent) or higher, never falling below the upper ranks in integrity assessments for three consecutive years.

This demonstrates that Dangjin City has firmly established itself as a city of integrity since the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration.

Moreover, in this year’s assessment, no city-level basic local governments nationwide received a Grade 1, making Grade 2 the highest rating achieved among the 75 city-level municipalities.

To enhance integrity, the city has analyzed corruption-prone areas and implemented a variety of effective, customized integrity initiatives, such as operating an anti-corruption and integrity task force, establishing an audit system for privately supported sectors, holding integrity pledge events, sending integrity-related text messages and letters, revising fair recruitment regulations for non-civil servants, and strengthening anti-corruption and integrity education.

In particular, Mayor Oh Seonghwan of Dangjin personally conducted integrity lectures for public officials and continuously emphasized the necessity and importance of integrity, playing a significant role in Dangjin City’s achievement of a top-tier integrity rating.

Meanwhile, in the detailed results of the integrity assessment, Dangjin City received a Grade 2 (78.6 points) for the integrity perception score, which combines external perception (from civil petitioners and others) and internal perception (from city employees), the same as the previous year.

Additionally, in the integrity effort score, which evaluates the city’s anti-corruption and integrity initiatives and operational performance over the past year, Dangjin City improved by one grade from the previous year to achieve Grade 2 (88.5 points), resulting in a final overall Grade 2 (82.6 points).

This score is 2.3 points higher than the national average for 462 public institutions (central, local, education offices, and related agencies) at 80.3 points, and 5.1 points higher than the average for 75 city-level basic local governments at 77.5 points.

Mayor Oh Seonghwan stated, “I believe that achieving the excellent result of a Grade 2 integrity rating for three consecutive years under the 8th popularly elected administration is due to the high level of integrity awareness among Dangjin City’s public officials and 170,000 citizens, who have practiced integrity together in unity.”

He added, “We will not be complacent with our current achievements and will continue to do our utmost to make Dangjin City a trustworthy and reliable city of integrity for its citizens.”
