The opening ceremony was attended by about 50 people, including Mayor Bang Se-hwan, Heo Kyung-haeng, Chairman of the City Council, Park Yong-hwa, President of the Gwangju City Branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association, Seong Jeong-suk, President of the Mokhyeon 5th District Senior Citizens' Association, and members of the senior citizens' center, celebrating the event.
The senior citizens' center, located in the Mokhyeon 5th District community space that opened in June, is equipped with separate rest areas for men and women, a living room, kitchen, and other convenience facilities. With 23 members, it serves as a space for seniors to foster friendship and enjoy leisure activities.
President Seong Jeong-suk stated, “I am grateful to the guests who came to celebrate the opening of the senior citizens' center, and I will do my best to operate the center so that the elderly can enjoy happy leisure time.”
Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, “I am pleased that the opening of the senior citizens' center, a long-awaited project for the residents of Mokhyeon 5th District, has created a space where the elderly can live a healthy and joyful retirement life. We will continue to do our best to improve the welfare of the elderly.”
