Netizens Say "Great Help for Chronic Insomnia"

The U.S. military's "2-minute sleep method," designed for people who have difficulty falling asleep, has been revealed and is gaining attention.

On the 18th (local time), according to the British Daily Mail and others, Canadian fitness expert Justin Agustin posted a video titled "A Sleep Method to Fall Asleep Within 2 Minutes" on his YouTube channel. He explained, "About 90% of people who tried this method saw results." This sleep method is known to have been developed by the U.S. military so that fighter pilots can easily fall asleep even in noisy and stressful environments. The core of the method is the so-called "attempt to shut down the body" through deep breathing and visualization.

First, lie down comfortably on your bed and relax your muscles in order from your forehead, eyes, cheeks, jaw, to neck. At this time, visualize in your mind the muscles loosening. Agustin guided, "Relax your eyes, cheeks, and jaw, and focus on your breathing. Then move down to your neck and shoulders," adding, "Check if your shoulders are tense and lower them as much as possible. Keep your arms loose at your sides, including your hands and fingers." Next, he said, "Take a deep breath and slowly exhale while imagining a warm sensation spreading through your chest, abdomen, thighs, knees, legs, and feet." Finally, he added, "Imagine lying in a canoe floating on a calm lake, looking up at a clear blue sky, and also picture yourself lying in a black velvet hammock in the darkness."

Agustin claimed that if you practice this sleep method every night for six weeks, you can fall asleep within 2 minutes of closing your eyes. This video, posted two years ago, has now surpassed 11 million views and received over 10,000 comments, attracting significant attention. One netizen praised, "I have practiced this sleep method for over 30 years and still use it even after leaving the military. It helped me during the war as well. It's a very good sleep method." Other netizens also responded, "I drive trucks and often need rest, and this method helps a lot then," "It's good to try this method when anxiety worsens," and "I suffer from chronic insomnia. At first, I was skeptical, but gradually I saw effects."

Related studies indicate that muscle relaxation through deep breathing and visualization helps improve both the quantity and quality of sleep. Prolonged exhalation rapidly lowers heart rate, activates the parasympathetic nervous system, and releases hormones that maintain calmness.
