LGU+ Receives Personal Information Protection Commission Award... AI 'Iksio' Equipped with Phishing Detection Function

The company was positively evaluated for contributing to user protection through proactive technological responses to prevent telecommunication financial fraud and the development of an AI-based spam message detection and blocking system.

LG Uplus has built a comprehensive response system that collects, analyzes, and blocks voice phishing and smishing data, and has worked with related organizations to prevent damage.

In particular, it collaborated with the PIPC, National Forensic Service, Financial Supervisory Service, and Korea Internet & Security Agency to utilize data that underwent de-identification processes for AI training, and improved detection accuracy through actual voice phishing damage report information from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and malicious app URL information from the Financial Security Institute.

The recently launched ixi-O is equipped with a function that detects voice phishing in real time during calls. Additionally, it introduced an AI-based filtering model that improved spam message filtering accuracy to over 95% compared to before, also focusing on preventing smishing damage.

LG Uplus plans to continue strengthening user protection by utilizing AI technology and further advancing the voice phishing response system based on cooperation with the Financial Supervisory Service and related organizations.

Hong Gwanhee, Head of LG Uplus Cybersecurity Center (CISO/CPO, Executive Vice President), said, "We are pleased to have our continuous efforts to strengthen voice phishing damage prevention technologies and services recognized in order to protect our customers' valuable assets," adding, "We will continue to provide more sophisticated and reliable security services based on AI technology to create an environment where customers can use our services with peace of mind."
