Financial Expert Seo Dong-wook, Former Participant of 'Practice of Memory' Exhibition, Dies at 50

Active as a financier after Duo disbandment
Former Vice President of Morgan Stanley PE

Seo Dong-wook, former member of the popular 1990s duo 'Jeonramhoe' and Vice President of Morgan Stanley Private Equity (PE), passed away on the 18th at the age of 50.

Seo Dong-wook formed the group Jeonramhoe with singer-songwriter Kim Dong-ryul, a fellow alumnus of Whimoon High School and Yonsei University. Jeonramhoe made their debut in the music industry by winning the grand prize at MBC's 'College Music Festival' in 1993 with the song "In a Dream."

Jeonramhoe officially debuted in 1994 with the release of their first album and released a total of three albums until their disbandment in 1997. They became well-known to the public with several hit songs such as "Study of Memory," "Travel," "Stranger," "Bird," and "Drunken Truth."

Regarding the reason for Jeonramhoe's disbandment, Seo said at the time, "There were more than a few times when I felt that I might have missed out on various possibilities that I could have enjoyed as a student while living as a singer at too young an age," adding, "For the time being, I will return to school and focus on my studies."

After Jeonramhoe disbanded, Kim Dong-ryul continued his singing career by forming the duo group 'Carnival' with Lee Juck, but Seo Dong-wook pursued a career in finance, working at Mackenzie & Company, Doosan Group, Alvarez & Marsal, and Morgan Stanley PE.

In May 2008, Seo attended a solo concert by his former colleague Kim Dong-ryul and expressed his feelings, saying, "It is amazing and makes me proud."

The late Seo's funeral is being held in Special Room 1 at the Severance Hospital Funeral Hall in Sinchon, Seoul. The funeral procession is scheduled for 11:40 a.m. on the 20th.
