'UK's Trump' Farage: "Musk Considering Donation to Our Party"

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, is reportedly considering donating to the right-wing populist Reform Party of the United Kingdom, which is in deep trouble, according to Nigel Farage, the leader of the party. Farage, who led the Brexit movement and is known for his anti-immigration and anti-carbon neutrality policies, has earned the nickname "the Trump of the UK" and has consistently supported President Trump.

On the 17th (local time), Farage shared in an article for the Daily Telegraph about his visit on the 16th to Mar-a-Lago, the residence of President-elect Donald Trump in Florida, where he discussed with Musk.

He stated, "Musk believes that the English-speaking homeland (the UK) is in a very deep predicament," and added, "He showed without a doubt that he considers the ruling Labour Party and the main opposition Conservative Party as a single party and supports us." He also mentioned, "After intense media speculation, financial matters were discussed, and negotiations on that front will proceed."

British media reported at the end of last month that Musk might donate $100 million (approximately 140 billion won) to the Reform Party. At that time, the Reform Party denied the claim, but the Mar-a-Lago meeting has brought renewed attention to the matter.

The Telegraph predicted that if Musk donates $100 million, it would be the largest single donation to a political party in history and could deal a significant blow to both the Labour and Conservative parties in the local elections next May. The current record is the ?10 million donation to the Conservative Party by British entrepreneur David Sainsbury last year.

Under UK election law, donations over ?500 to political parties can only be made by donors registered in the UK. Therefore, if CEO Musk makes an actual donation, it is expected to be routed through the UK branch of X (formerly Twitter).
