Suspected of Stealing Documents and Deleting Case Files
A woman in her 30s who was fired from a company where she had worked for nine months, then stole documents and office supplies from the office and even left human waste behind, was sentenced to probation.
On the 18th, the Daegu District Court Pohang Branch Criminal Division 2 (Presiding Judge Joo Kyung-tae) announced that it sentenced A (34), an employee of a law office, to six months in prison with two years of probation on charges of theft, obstruction of business, and destruction of electronic records.
A worked at a law office in Pohang for about nine months and, after being fired, held a grudge and retaliated. She is accused of entering her former workplace in July last year and taking work-related litigation documents, a laptop, and office supplies, as well as deleting a total of 103 work-related electronic documents stored on the computer. She is also accused of placing human waste in plastic bags and hiding them throughout the office.
The court stated, "The defendant stole office property and hid human waste in hard-to-find places, thereby obstructing business. She consistently gave excuses that were difficult to understand even in court, showing a lack of remorse." The court added, "Considering that she deposited 3 million won to compensate for the damages, the sentence was determined accordingly."
